2013 RSVP Volunteer Recognition:  RSVP volunteers John H. Fox, Rena Konkle who were present and Mary Leoni who wasn't present were recognized for Lifetime Presidential Service Awards (4,000+ hours).  Volunteers were recognized for hours and years of service.  Weirton Christian Center Station was honored for their outstanding support of the RSVP program.  The Donna Weaver Shining Star Award was presented to Mr. Bill Lantz for his outstanding service.  This volunteer recognition was made successful by donations from area businessesSpecial thank you to Mary Jo Guidi - Congressional Staffer, Senator Joe Manchin III, Jared Bedekovich - Field Representative Congressman David McKinley, Kristin Cross - Field Representative, State Auditor Glen B. Gainer III and Delegate Ronnie D. Jones, Amy Nickerson - Field Representative - Attorney General Patrick Morrisey who assisted in presenting congressional awards, recognitions and legislative citations.

Welcome Brooke County Coordinator Emma Kay Weimer.  She will be assisted by Alina Hopkins, AmeriCorps VISTA in  the After School Programs.

>AARP Safe Driving Class Scheduled at Mary H. RSVP 9/11 Service Project:  Volunteers Rae Tate and Shirley Hood helped prepare File of Life packets that were distributed to twenty seniors on 9/11.  This RSVP service project helped seniors become emergency prepared.  Shirley Hood assisted Loretta Ceccarelli in completing her File of Life packet and distributing the File of Life at the Brooke County Senior Center.  Nancy Tarr assisted Georgia Cogas in completing her packet and instructed her in distributing the File of Life packets at the Weirton Senior Center.

Special Thanks Senator Jack Yost and Senator Rocky Fitzsimmons for the Governor’s Community Participation Grant Program request in the amount of $1,000 and to the City of Follansbee through which the grant was submitted.  Monies are designated to be used for the RSVP Community Garden.
