Expanding Opportunity

RSVP Seeking Mayors Day National Service Recognition:  RSVP will be requesting program recognition from local mayors in Brooke Hancock Ohio Marshall Counties again this year. Please help RSVP recognize the great service of community volunteers and their contribution to our great cities. RSVP will be calling on volunteers to attend Proclamation Presentations to represent service in their local communities.

RSVP would like to welcome incoming Advisory Council Members:  Dorothy Gorman (Hancock), Marty Wach (Ohio), George Smoulder (Ohio), and Delegate Ryan Weld (Hancock/Brooke/Ohio). 

RSVP will be conducting our yearly Program Evaluation.  All stations and volunteers please be prepared to receive a call asking you survey questions.  Thank you volunteers for helping us complete our evaluation.  

Special Thank you: Pauline Boring for coordinating the Marshall County Christmas Party and Linda Vidoni for assisting.   Thank you Linda Benyo for the great food and inkind donation, and Bob Tarowsky for donating your photo services and the wonderful pictures.  Also, thank you Hank Vincent for the great entertainment. RSVP Director Retires: I would like to take this time to thank everyone who has supported me as RSVP Director.  Your assistance, service, and dedication, is greatly appreciated. The program growth would not have been achieved without you.  As I humbly accept the position as BCCOA Fiscal Officer, I hope to continue the wonderful friendships encountered as RSVP Director.  Again, thank you for your support.

 

Please welcome Candace Wittig as RSVP Director.  It has been a  pleasure working with her as Hancock County RSVP Coordinator.  She has been actively recruiting and managing, volunteers and sites.  I wish her well in her coming position as RSVP Director.  Thank you Candace for accepting the position, you will do a great job!

AARP Smart Driver Classes will be scheduled in the spring.  If you would like to take a class, please call the RSVP office at 304.527.3410 to have your name put on the waiting list.

Deborah Puskarich wants to start a walking program in spring of 2015.  Members would meet at Follansbee Park 6:30 p.m.  If you are interested, please call 304.527.3410.

AARP Tax Assistance Schedule - February 2015:  Brooke County Senior Center Tuesday/Thursday - 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. Please call 304.527.3410. Please bring 2013 year tax return and all of 2014 tax information (including 2014 senior citizens tax credit and 1095A for any tax payer who has purchased insurance through the market place). Thank you volunteers who assisted with the RSVP Christmas lap robe project.  Special thank you to Jonathon Plants and Becky Brown who assisted with distribution.  Also a special thank you to Hattie Adams who made 72 laprobes herself.  What an accomplishment!  Thank you to volunteers, Barbara Bartnicki, Beulah Brown, Eileen Gogol, Vivian Hunt, Noreen Koon, Nora Neff, Peggy Nordenger, Carol Reitter, Lorraine Slezak, and Antoinette Wilkerson, who made 175 lap robes, 22 shaws, and 38 scarfs that were distributed to area adult and child care facilities.

We are always needing 4 ply yarn to help with the RSVP Christmas Project!

Special Thank you to Margaret Freshwater for donating the handmade quilt that was raffled. The quilt raised $153.  Congratulations to Gerry Taibi for winning the quilt!
