RSVP Coordinator – Senior of the Year Recipient 

Nominated by Glynda Marie Walker, Linda is very active in her community volunteering at:  Wheeling Hospital, Department of Correction, Odgen Race, Welty Nursing Home, and assisting citizens in her community with errands of shopping and dining.  Glynda states, “Linda is a lady with the “Angel of Love” a “Big Heart.  She encourages seniors to enjoy life outwardly and has such an internal beauty.”  Congratulations, Linda!

Community Garden Updates

Special Thanks to Lu Tate, Follansbee Italian Grill, Business Owner, Follansbee Mayor David A. Velegol and Lewis & Nancy Brooks for Donations to help with WATER costs.  Also, Follansbee City Council and Paul & Carol Scurti, Scavati’s Restaurant, Owners, for future plans to assist with Water at little or no cost.  Follansbee garden has produced approximately 80 zucchini and 100 cucumbers, some tangy radishes, sweet basil and medium hot peppers donated to local seniors who have manned the garden and seniors at the Brooke County Senior Center. To get involved stop by the garden at 930 Virginia Ave., Follansbee, Volunteers usually there Mon-Sat 7:00 p.m. or help at your convenience. Our Benwood/McMechen garden currently has knee high corn, will be picking soon!Pictured above Julia Stankevich.
