recognize our own VISTA, Alina Hopkins, and thank her for
renewing her membership one more year with RSVP ASAP.
A little more about Alina:
Alina Lauren Hopkins is a California native,
turned West Virginian in February 2012. Alina is here as an
AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America or VISTA, and
currently on her second year. Her first year she served in
Marshall County and now she is serving Brooke County. “Being
an AmeriCorps VISTA is really great. I get to make a real
difference in people’s lives while making a difference in my
own life,” Alina says, “I have met so many people and have
grown professionally as well as personally over the last
year. I am proud to be an AmeriCorps VISTA.”
Some of Alina’s accomplishments were to help
establish a community garden in Benwood-McMechen community,
she started a Panera Bread weekly donation, helped to raise
$10,000 of in-kind donations, and she implemented three
major service projects that benefited active military men
and women and Veterans.
Alina currently has an estimated 2,080 hours
of service in 2012 at the dollar value of volunteer service
of $21.79/hour with RSVP ASAP.
Alina’s year to date service has added to her
community $19,936. Great service to your community, Alina!
